The main event starts tomorrow. After a Play-In stage that sent Karmine Corp into the bracket, the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage begins on October 23 in Dallas, and the Round 1 matchups are exactly the kind of slate that makes the Swiss format sing: defending champions T1 open against CBLOL's LOS, LPL top seed Anyone's Legend gets Europe's Karmine Corp, and Gen.G starts the whole thing against Invictus Gaming.

This is the tournament's pressure cooker. Sixteen teams, five rounds, and a simple rule: three wins and you are through to the quarterfinals, three losses and you are on a plane home.

Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage: Round 1 Schedule and Format

Round 1 runs on October 23 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Dallas, and every series is a best-of-one. The full Round 1 slate:

  • Gen.G vs Invictus Gaming
  • Hanwha Life Esports vs Top Esports
  • Bilibili Gaming vs Movistar KOI
  • Anyone's Legend vs Karmine Corp
  • G2 Esports vs Dplus KIA
  • Team Liquid Alienware vs CTBC Flying Oyster
  • LOS vs T1
  • Team Secret Whales vs LYON

From Round 2 onward, teams are drawn against opponents with the same record, no repeat matchups, and no same-region protection. Qualification and elimination series are best-of-threes. Further round draws are scheduled for October 23, 24, 26, and 30 as the Swiss progresses.

One thing to know: Worlds 2026 is played with Fearless Draft. Any champion picked by either team in a series is unavailable for the rest of that series, which rewards teams with deep champion pools and punishes one-trick rosters. It mattered in Play-In, and it will matter a lot more in best-of-fives.

The Matchups That Matter

LOS vs T1 is the headline, and for good reason. T1 enter as the defending champions chasing a seventh world title for the organization, while LOS represent Brazil's CBLOL, which is having a genuine moment on the international stage. It is also the kind of opener that can define a team's whole Swiss run: lose your first Bo1 to the favorites and you are already playing from the 0-1 pool.

Anyone's Legend vs Karmine Corp is the culture-clash game. AL come in as LPL champions and one of the tournament favorites; KC just swept MVK 3-0 in Play-In and bring the most vocal crowd energy in the venue. Nobody expects KC to win this, which is exactly why it is must-watch.

G2 vs Dplus KIA pits two international veterans against each other with everything to prove. Both have beaten the favorites this year and both have a habit of cruel early exits. One of them starts 1-0, and the bracket gets much easier from there.

Three Storylines to Follow

T1's title defense. The three-time defending champions are chasing number seven for the org, and they landed the most cinematic possible opener. Every T1 Worlds run becomes a saga; this one starts against LOS.

The LPL vs LCK cold war. Gen.G, Bilibili Gaming, Hanwha Life, and Anyone's Legend are all legitimate contenders, and the Swiss draw keeps them mostly apart for now. The knockouts are where that war gets fought, but seeding starts here.

Europe's long shot. Karmine Corp and G2 are both in the bracket, and neither is favored to reach the quarterfinals. KC's Play-In run was loud and convincing. If either team survives the Swiss, the knockout draw on October 31 gets very interesting.

The Knockout Path

Eight teams advance. The quarterfinal draw happens on October 31, with the two 3-0 teams drawn against 3-2 teams as a reward for a clean run, and the rest drawn randomly. Quarterfinals and semifinals run November 3-8 in Allen, Texas, before the grand final on November 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
