Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games have released a new teaser for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the Unreal Engine 5 reimagining of Lara Croft's 1996 debut, as part of the series' 30th anniversary celebrations. The footage debuted on October 25 at TR30 Derby and MCM London, and it reaffirms the February 12, 2027 launch date for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. It is a short clip rather than a deep gameplay reveal, but it packs in the landmarks longtime fans will recognize: Peru, Greece, and Egypt, plus a nod to one of the original game's strangest secrets.

Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis: What the Teaser Actually Shows

The teaser, posted through the official Tomb Raider channels, cuts quickly between combat, exploration, and traversal. Lara wields her dual pistols and a shotgun, swings across structures, and faces down dangerous wildlife, including the series' most famous beast. The footage leans on familiar tomb raiding imagery, now rendered with modern lighting and detail, and it closes on teases of iconic content that the official account warned fans they may have already seen enough of.

One detail worth pausing on: the teaser confirms that Legacy of Atlantis keeps the Golden Lara easter egg from the original game and from Tomb Raider: Anniversary. In the Temple of Midas, players could find a hidden room holding a giant stone hand belonging to King Midas. Climbing onto it triggered a cutscene in which Lara turned into a gold statue, which meant game over. Bringing that joke back is a good sign for how this remake treats its source material: it respects the original's quirks instead of sanding them off.

The teaser also shows Lara pulling off acrobatic moves, cartwheels and flips while shooting, with bullet-time slow motion during special moves. That reads as a modernized take on the original's action rather than a straight recreation of its tank controls, which is exactly what a reimagining should do.

The February 12, 2027 Launch and Editions

Legacy of Atlantis was originally planned for a 2026 window before being delayed to February 12, 2027, a date the new teaser restates rather than changes. Preorders are open in Standard, Deluxe, and Collector's Editions. The Deluxe Edition includes 48 hours of early access, a Parisian Fugitive outfit, and a post-launch DLC story pack. The Collector's Edition adds a Lara Croft versus T-Rex statue, a premium steel case, a mini art book, a Croft signet pin, and an Atlantean Talisman keychain.

Reporting around the anniversary week puts the campaign at roughly 14 to 16 hours depending on play style, with separate difficulty settings for combat and puzzles. That length fits a remake of the original game: a focused adventure, not a hundred-hour open world. For players planning a winter budget, the timing matters too. The game lands about three months after GTA VI, which arrives November 19, so the two biggest nostalgia and blockbuster launches of the season will not collide directly.

Why the 30th Anniversary Timing Matters

Thirty years is a long time for a character to stay relevant, and Lara Croft has managed it by being reinvented every decade or so. The original 1996 game made her a household name on Sega Saturn and PlayStation. Anniversary (2007) retold the same story for a new generation. Legacy of Atlantis is the next attempt, and its pitch is clear from the official description: redesigned environments, puzzles rebuilt with new mechanics, and set pieces like the T-Rex fight restaged on a cinematic scale, with new surprises that honor the spirit of the original.

The remake is being built by Crystal Dynamics together with Flying Wild Hog, and published by Amazon Games. Alix Wilton Regan voices Lara. A separate new Tomb Raider game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, has reportedly slipped to a 2028 window, which makes Legacy of Atlantis the series' main event for 2027.

What to Watch Next

The teaser answers the immediate questions: the game is real, it still launches February 12, 2027, and it looks like the original with modern production values. What it does not show is extended uninterrupted gameplay, or how the redesigned puzzles actually play. Expect the next beat to be a longer gameplay showcase, and watch for Switch 2 performance details, since that version is new to this remake's lineup. Fans of the series' recent history should also keep an eye on our Ghost of Yotei: Echoes of Sekigahara review for a different take on revisiting a beloved action formula.
