Worlds 2026 Quarterfinal: Invictus Gaming Beat Top Esports 3-1 to Reach the Semifinals

Worlds 2026 Quarterfinal: IG End TES in Four Games
The Worlds 2026 quarterfinal stage opened with an all-LPL classic, and Invictus Gaming are through to the semifinals for the first time since 2019 after beating Top Esports 3-1 in Allen, Texas. The series had everything a knockout opener should have: a stomp, a 47-minute comeback, a jungle masterclass, and a final game decided at Dragon Soul. IG now wait for the winner of Gen.G versus LYON in the semifinal on November 7, while TES leave the tournament in 5th to 8th place with $300,000 in prize money.
The result also settles the first semifinal slot of a knockout stage played under Fearless Draft, where a champion picked once in a series cannot be picked again by either team. That rule shaped every draft in this series, and it rewarded the team willing to dig deeper into its champion pool.
Game 1 and 2: A Stomp, Then a 47-Minute Turnaround
IG opened with a 31-minute win on blue side, with mid laner Rookie and bot laner JiaQi dominating their lanes. TES answered in game 2, a 47-minute grind on red side that turned on a single fight: 369, left alone on Renekton, won a 1v3 against TheShy, Wei, and a fed JiaQi, and TES rode that swing to close the game and level the series. It was the kind of moment that can flip a whole series, and for a while it looked like it might.
Coverage of the Worlds 2026 knockout day 1 results notes the series was also interrupted by an hour-long pause caused by an internal issue with the tournament client, a reminder that even the biggest stage in the game is not immune to technical trouble.
Game 3 and 4: Wei Takes Over the Series
Game 3 belonged to Wei. His jungle Jayce, an unusual pick that TES had no answer for, dealt absurd damage as the game went on, and he finished 5/0/8 as IG took a 2-1 lead. TES focused heavily on shutting down JiaQi's Zeri, but that left Wei free to scale, and the gamble backfired.
Game 4 was another Wei masterclass, this time on Naafiri. He repeatedly targeted 369's Aatrox early, helped TheShy get ahead on K'Sante, stole the first dragon, and secured all three Voidgrubs. TES found openings through JackeyLove's Lucian, but IG caught him out, secured Baron, won the decisive Dragon Soul fight, and pushed to end the series 3-1. Across the series, JiaQi finished with a 27-9-27 kill-death-assist line and Rookie went 20-8-33, numbers that show how much of the damage flowed through IG's carries once Wei gave them room.

What This Worlds 2026 Quarterfinal Means for the Semifinals
IG's reward is a semifinal against Gen.G or LYON, and either matchup is a story. Gen.G went 3-0 in the Swiss stage and beat LYON 2-1 already in this tournament, while LYON are the first Latin American team to reach a Worlds quarterfinal and have nothing to lose. IG's form makes them dangerous against either side: Wei is playing the best League of his tournament, Rookie's experience shows in close games, and the team has now won a series where it lost a 47-minute game and still closed out.
TES, meanwhile, played this stage with a forced substitution after visa issues hit their starting top laner, which makes the 3-1 scoreline read a little differently. They still pushed IG hard in games 2 and 4, and their tournament ends with the frustration of knowing a fully fit roster might have changed the series. That is the cruelty of single elimination: there is no rematch.
The Rest of the Quarterfinal Schedule
Three quarterfinals remain, one per day in Allen. Gen.G face LYON on November 4, Dplus KIA meet Bilibili Gaming on November 5, and defending champions T1 play Karmine Corp on November 6. The semifinals follow on November 7 and 8, with the grand final at Barclays Center in New York on November 14. The full bracket context, including the Swiss stage results that seeded these matchups, is in our Worlds 2026 Swiss stage round 3 results coverage.
One quarterfinal down, one semifinalist confirmed. IG are back among the final four for the first time in seven years, and on this form, nobody left in the bracket will want to draw them.
