Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage Round 3 Preview: Gen.G and DK Play for Quarterfinals, T1 Faces CFO

Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage Round 3 Schedule
Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage Round 3 is where the tournament starts cutting teams. After two rounds, nobody has qualified and nobody has gone home. That changes now: the 2-0 teams play best-of-three series for quarterfinal spots, and the 0-2 teams play best-of-three series for survival. The eight matches run across Sunday, October 25 and Monday, October 26 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas.

Qualification Matches: Gen.G vs LYON and Movistar KOI vs Dplus KIA
Sunday's two best-of-three series send their winners straight to the quarterfinals with perfect 3-0 records. Gen.G against LYON is the headline. Gen.G dismantled Hanwha Life in 29 minutes in Round 2, a 22-7 demolition that confirmed the LCK first seed as the tournament favorite. LYON are also unbeaten, having beaten Karmine Corp in Round 2, but this is a serious step up in class. If LYON take a game off Gen.G, it is a statement. If they win the series, it is the upset of the tournament.
Movistar KOI against Dplus KIA is the more even fight. KOI reached 2-0 by beating CTBC Flying Oyster in Round 2, continuing the LEC's strong tournament. DK are the story of the Swiss Stage so far: the LCK fourth seed and Esports World Cup 2026 winners have pulled off two miracle comebacks, first against G2 in Round 1 and then the Elder Dragon steal against T1 in Round 2. The losers here are not eliminated, they drop to the 2-1 pool with another chance, but winning now means skipping the rest of the Swiss chaos entirely.
The 1-1 Pool: T1, HLE, and the Middle Pack
The four 1-1 best-of-one matches decide who sits one win from the quarterfinals and who slides to 1-2, one loss from elimination. T1 against CTBC Flying Oyster is the one everyone will watch. The three-time defending champions lost to Dplus KIA in Round 2 after leading for most of a tense 41-minute game, and they suddenly look mortal. CFO lost to Movistar KOI in Round 2, but a win over T1 would be the biggest result in the organization's history.
Elsewhere in the middle, Hanwha Life face Invictus Gaming in a must-stabilize match for the MSI champions, whose aura took a real hit against Gen.G. G2 meet Top Esports after both sides won in Round 2, G2 over LOS and TES over Anyone's Legend behind a quadra kill from Lin 'Creme' Jian. Bilibili Gaming against Karmine Corp closes the 1-1 set: BLG beat Team Liquid in Round 2, while KC, the only play-in survivor, lost to LYON and need to prove their Round 1 win over Anyone's Legend was not a one-off.
Elimination Monday: LOS vs TSW and Team Liquid vs Anyone's Legend
Monday's two best-of-three series are pure survival. The losers go home; the winners stay alive at 1-2 with a long road back. LOS against Team Secret Whales is a clash of teams that have not found their footing, with TSW coming off a Round 2 loss to Invictus Gaming. Team Liquid against Anyone's Legend is the bigger shock: AL entered as LPL top seed and now sit 0-2 after losses to Karmine Corp and Top Esports. One more loss sends the LPL champions home early, a result that would have seemed absurd a week ago.

The Swiss Stage runs through October 31, with the final set for November 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and $1 million of the $5 million prize pool going to the champion. Round 3 is where the field starts to split into contenders and casualties. By Tuesday morning, four teams will be through or one loss from gone.
